Welcome to 404 System Error Conversation

We recognize that the Occupy Canada movement has achieved a level of success we have not imagined.

Now, we also recognize it is the time to move things forward either within an organized “occupy” group or not.

Occupy is necessary, but as part and parcel of a larger strategic movement. Occupy is the link that acts as a bond between Canada and the rest of the world, our sisters and brothers in struggle… However, as we experienced, occupy has its shortcomings which can be overcome by horizontally aligning with others, people and organizations, working on smaller practical strategies.

A team of us has started www.404systemerror.com  and are working on local and national campaigns that embed within them goals that reflect that of occupiers, activists, social justice advocates, workers, teachers, students, in short, the Canadian majority that finds it more and more difficult making ends meet.

We work with the same passion, commitment and dedication, channelling our efforts to specific and achievable goals that make a difference to Canadians. Anyone can join our research team and collaborate on documents.

Proposal 1 – 404 Project Accountability:  we are working on measuring the Harper government against its own Federal Accountability Act. We collect the instances in which MPs and Ministers have violated their own mandate and accountability promises. and we publish publish publish until we reach everyone!!!

Proposal 2: 404 Project Mandate:  we want to measure each Minister of State and their professional backgrounds against the mandate of their ministry. We want to show Canadians how their background do not reflect the mandate of the ministry. We have an anti-labour labour minister, an ecologically criminal minister of environment, a treasury president with records of misusing public money, etc.

Proposal 3: 404 Project XS: As our federal and Ontario govts are planning on imposing austerity measures, we want to create a documented list of wasteful government spending and measure it against the savings on “social service cuts” and public service workers’ layoffs…

These are strategic goals we can achieve together. You can support us with your research or even by sending us links to relevant documents, information, news articles . This does not require you to either proclaim yourself an occupier, an activists, or whatever seems to be what divides the internal structure of occupy. We are here to focus on information we need to empower ourselves with the truth.

The secret to this paradigm shift is to create the space in which we can make sense of the world around us by sharing ideas for campaigns, sharing knowledge and resources, and most of all, achieving small strategic victories on one issue at a time. Our secret weapon is our ability to bring information together and reclaim the language of public discourse at our terms rather than 40 seconds sound bites that instead of informing us tends to un-inform us through reification and decontextualization.
